HCR is a destination fishery with two miles of private water to fish. HCR includes 9 cabins which allow 2 anglers per cabin and 18 total for our club. We will once again be staying at the Soaring Eagle Lodge, arguably the premiere facility on this fabled tailwater. Trout 16” + are the norm, with serious opportunity to bring to hand a 20”+ bruiser (fact is that 8 guests on our 2023 trip caught rainbows in excess of 20” (with several noting 24” – 25” bows) during the trip. This year’s accommodations are as we have enjoyed in the past, deluxe waterfront cabins, 2 guests per cabin, FIVE cabins in total.
Our party of ten will enjoy 5 nights lodging with 4 days of guided drift boat fishing, arrival on the afternoon of June 22 with departure after breakfast on June 27. Lodging, guides and meals included – each attendee is responsible for their personal transportation, fishing license and gratuities.
As in the past, Soaring Eagle has again graciously provided PCC a 10% trip discount off published rates.
An initial deposit / personal check made out to Soaring Eagle in the amount of $1035.00 will be required, per guest. The remaining balance of $1,044.95 due at checkout, payable by check or credit card.

Dear Fellow PCC member: Every so often, an opportunity comes along for a special fly-fishing experience, and I believe that this is one of them. Next summer a group of us, including myself and PCC member David Bird, are going to an unspoiled river in the Amazon Forest to fish primarily for the Pinima species of Peacock Bass. What is special about the Pinima is that, unlike all other Peacock Bass species, it has adapted to life in fast moving waters. Instead of blind casting in still waters, you would be sight casting to fish in the rapids. In addition, there are a number of other species to be targeted. The river itself is special in that there are no habitations on it except for the Pinima Lodge itself. There will be wonderful opportunities to observe jungle fauna. The group has experience with the outfitter, Angling Frontiers International, as well. In 2018 we had an amazing experience at their camp in the Bolivian Andes fishing for Golden Dorado. He runs an excellent operation with skill and integrity. As I write this, there are spaces for two additional anglers. The dates of the trip are August 4th through 11th, 2024 and the cost is $6,250.00 plus transportation to and from Manaus, Brazil. As an optional bonus, we are considering a stop in Mexico on the way back for a shot at tarpon. The Angling Frontiers brochure is attached, and I will welcome your phone call to discuss the trip.
