This is an outing for those who already fly fish the surf, for those who want to learn, or just want to hang out for a while at the beach.  We will be meeting at 6:00 AM in the morning at the Dockweiler State Beach Parking Area.  Scott Boller and Steve Terui will provide guidance and tips. This will be a great time for club member to gather and spend some time casting for Corbina, Sea Bass, and Perch. A 6 – 7 Wt. fly rod is best for this type fishing. Scott or Steve can be contacted for any gear or fly recommendations. Hope to see you there.

October 13-16, 2022

Fall is a great time to visit the eastern Sierra. The water is cooling down from the summer heat and becoming more oxygenated, the trout are more active than summer, there are fewer visitors than in summer, and the fall foliage is arguably the most spectacular in the State.

PCC is sponsoring a Club trip to the area October 13-16, 2022. We will stay in Mt Morrison House at the Convict Lake Resort (, a six-bedroom lodge with full kitchen, BBQ deck with hot tub, and many other amenities a short walk from the Lake, and centrally located to many stillwater and river/creek fishing locations, many with wild trout. The Lodge is comfortable for both socializing and sleeping.

On similar trips in the past, people fished independently, in small groups, or with a guide, and rejoined for dinner and evening conversation. You can also enjoy hikes around the lake under the changing Aspens, and casting dry flies at sunset to trout rising on the lake. The resort has one of the best fine dining restaurants in the region, but we will have a large kitchen and patio with BBQs. Convict Lake is a 15-minute drive to Mammoth.

Each morning there will be a “breakfast bar” (coffee/tea/juice, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, DIY breakfast burritos), and a chili supper on Thursday night when you arrive. Cost of the food and non-alcoholic beverages is included, and we hope everyone will pitch in to help cook and clean up. Alcohol is BYO. Dinners Friday and Saturday nights can be planned once the angler list is finalized.

Arrival is 2PM Thursday October 13, and checkout is 11AM Sunday October 16.

Trip cost $375 per person, double occupancy.

Reserve using the PCC Calendar.

What’s included? 3 nights double occupancy including all taxes, bedding and towels (replaced on request); there is no daily maid service. Breakfast bar each morning, Thursday night chili supper, and non-alcoholic drinks.

What’s NOT included? Transportation, other food, drink or meals

The trip is limited to 12 persons
